As Detroit, and cities like it, continue to evolve, we face a critical question: How do we grow our cities without burying them in waste? What does the future of a sustainable city look like?

  • What is mobility in the context of a built environment?
  • Where does neighborhood engagement fit in?
  • How should funders consider sustainability in their investments?
  • Why should historical land use matter for sustainable urban planning?

Globally, the built environment accounts for about 39% of greenhouse gas emissions. The construction and demolition industry is responsible for over one-third of the world’s total waste.

That’s more than 1.3 billion tons of solid waste annually, a number expected to double by 2050 without serious intervention.

Connect with sustainability thought leaders, executives, start-ups, investors, community leaders, educators, and innovators.
